Here’s what I did:
Go to your LinkedIn profile, click “Edit Profile” (in the top right hand corner), scroll down until you see “Contact Settings”.Click on “Contact Settings” and then click on “Edit”.
Now you will be taken to LinkedIn’s ‘Email Notifications’ page. Here is where we can tailor which LinkedIn notifications we receive via LinkedIn, and also decide whether or not we want our LinkedIn email address displayed publicly (or not). Scroll down to the bottom of that page until you see the following:
Select Email Invitation Requests from the dropdown menu, in my case I chose “No”. This means LinkedIn users cannot send me LinkedIn invitations directly, they have to go through LinkedIn. Then hit ‘Save Changes’.
You’ll now be taken back to your LinkedIn profile edit page. If you don’t see any changes straight away don’t worry, LinkedIn takes a while to update. I waited about an hour before checking LinkedIn and it was still the same – you can see LinkedIn displayed as my email address, which is not what I want.
Now click back on your LinkedIn profile again and go all the way to the top of your LinkedIn profile page until you see this:
Click on “My Endorsements”. Take a note of how many LinkedIn recommendations your LinkedIn profile has at present, then click back onto your LinkedIn edit page again.
Now that we are editing our LinkedIn ‘Contact Settings’ page once more, scroll down to where you will find:
7a) If you received all your LinkedIn endorsements from people in your own network (connected LinkedIn users) then you’ll see an ‘X’ next to LinkedIn Contacts. Click on the down arrow (next to LinkedIn Contacts) and select “Only LinkedIn Members Who are LinkedIn Endorsers”.
7b) If you received LinkedIn endorsements from people who were not previously connected to LinkedIn (LinkedIn users other than your network), or if you would like to make it so that you receive LinkedIn invitations/requests directly via email, then click on the checkbox for “Email Invitation Requests From Everyone except Myself” . Once again, hit ‘Save Changes’.
- Go back to your LinkedIn profile page once more – refresh if necessary. Your LinkedIn address will now be hidden from public view!
Click the LinkedIn Me icon at the top of your homepage, then click Settings & Privacy and click Sign-in & security on the left. Click Change next to Email Addresses under Account Access. Enter your new email address into the text box and send verification to complete the account change.
Step 2) Find LinkedIn in the list and click on it. Step 3) In the top right, click “Revoke Access.”Give credit: (BONUS STEP!) Look at what other applications or sites have access to your Gmail accounts, such as your contacts or email
– Gmail by default leaks your full name instead of just email address– You can hide your first and last name on Gmail by configuring the “Send Mail As” feature in your account
LinkedIn Email VerifyYou will need to verify your email on LinkedIn if it’s not correctly associated with the account you’re trying to log in with. Log into your account and select ‘Me’ from the top right corner. For verification, go to ‘Settings & Privacy. Ensure that you have access and control of any other email addresses listed there for use when signing in.
In order to locate your account, please provide the email address associated with your account. Next, LinkedIn asks you for a new password and username. You’ll be prompted to enter the same email address associated with this new account.
To delete your account, visit the LinkedIn website, point to your profile picture icon at the top right corner of the page, and click “Manage” next to Privacy & Settings. Scroll down on the Account page and click “Closing Your LinkedIn Account” under Subscriptions.
