There are two ways to do this depending on the device that you’re using. For devices running Android 6 or above, tap and hold the Home button (the one with a house icon) then tap Recent apps to see your list of open apps. From there, either swipe the app off the screen or click on it in the list then press Force stop.
For devices running Android 5 or below, click Settings > Apps > Play Store > Clear data and choose OK when prompted to confirm clearing all user data for Google Play Store. This will remove any saved information including game progress, purchases, subscriptions, etc. Restarting your phone may be required after this process finishes but once done you should be able to download and re-open your games to continue play from where you left off.
How can I reset a game on the Nintendo Switch?
If you ever need to clear data for a specific application, you can do so using the following steps:
From the Home screen, select System Settings > Data Management > Software and then press A (or tap Software in the upper-left corner of the screen). Press Y on your controller when prompted to confirm clearing all user data/cache for Nintendo eShop.* Select Yes or OK on both screens that provide this option. The console will restart after these steps are complete. Downloading and launching an application as well as creating an icon on your Home Menu will require repeating these steps again each time they’re performed.
*Clearing Nintendo eShop will also require redownloading and reinstalling any pre-purchased software you had installed previously. You can download your past purchases again from the Purchase History section of the Nintendo eShop.
Home Menu > Data Management > Software: Software title icons, saved data, and updates are listed here. Press Y to clear all user data/cache for a specific game or application at anytime. Select Yes or OK on both screens that provide this option if prompted to do so. Once cleared, you can launch it as usual without selecting through these steps again. If the console is unable to update an application after clearing its data, try downloading it again from Nintendo eShop instead before attempting another reset.
How do I reset the Nintendo 3DS?
Resetting your system will erase all downloaded software, save data, and other local information stored on the device. To perform this process go to System Settings > Other Settings > Initialize (or Reset) and confirm by pressing A or tap OK. This will reboot your console into an initializing state so it may take a few minutes for the process to complete. Once done, you should be able to launch games without re-entering any registration codes or signing in again but we recommend you download or reinstall them from Nintendo eShop if necessary before trying.
How do I reset my iPhone/iPad?
Resetting your Apple device will erase all locally stored data and information including downloaded or purchased content. To perform this process go to Settings > General > Reset then tap Erase All Content and Settings. This will reboot your device so it may take a few minutes for the process to complete. Once done, you should be able to launch games without re-entering registration codes or signing in again but we recommend downloading them from iTunes if necessary before trying. If you need further assistance with this process you can visit our guide here.
If none of these steps are working for you it’s possible the game itself has been removed from Google Play, iTunes App Store, Nintendo eShop, or Microsoft Store. If this is the case you can submit a request to Google Play, iTunes App Store, Nintendo eShop, or Microsoft Store asking if it will be re-instated but we cannot guarantee they’ll respond positively. You may also consider contacting the game developer directly for more information on available options.
