Go to System Settings > Users > Your user account > Change Parental Controls Password . Once you have set a new password, your child will need to enter their own birth-date and sign out of the Parental Controls system so that they can no longer use parental controls. Return to the previous menu and select “Linked Nintendo Accounts” from under the Users heading. Select Link a New Account and follow the instructions on screen. After linking an existing account, select “Nintendo eShop & Software Downloads” from the next menu. You should now be able to purchase content with linked credit cards or other payment methods.

If you plan to unlink a console that has been linked with your child’s Nintendo Account, we recommend that you unlink the account from the system first and then change the Parental Control User so that they can no longer access parental control features before unlinking. This will prevent them from creating an additional user to regain access.
